Placing accounts with ClaraPay
A placement is a batch of accounts you hand to ClaraPay for collection. Every row that loads successfully becomes an account in your portfolio.
Uploading a placement
Owners and admins can upload from /client/accounts/placements. The upload walks three steps:
1. Select the file — CSV or XLSX, up to 10 MB and 10,000 rows, with headers in the first row. A Download template button gives you a ready-made CSV with every supported column.
2. Map columns — your headers are auto-matched to ClaraPay's fields; confirm or adjust the mapping. Required fields: account number, consumer first name, consumer last name, and original balance. You can save a mapping and reuse it on future files.
3. Done — you see total rows, imported rows, and errors immediately.
Prefer SFTP delivery? Choose it in your placement-logistics settings and your account team will set up the endpoint and cadence.
Tracking a placement
The placements list shows every placement, newest first, with its file name, row counts, success/error split, and status — pending, validating, processing, completed, failed, or cancelled. A completed placement with zero errors means every row loaded cleanly and is already eligible for collection activity.
Fixing rejected rows
Click a placement to open its detail view: status, rows processed, accounts created, balance imported, and an errors table listing each failed row — its row number, the offending column, what was wrong, the raw value, and the expected format.
1. Correct the listed rows in your source system.
2. Re-submit only the corrected rows as a follow-up placement — no need to re-send the whole file.
Confirm each placement shows completed with zero errors before moving on — that is your receipt that every account is in market.
